So you want to build a mill?

Ill bet lots of visitors coming to this blog are building or thinking of building a bandmill, well here is a tip for all of you. when building the mill you have to pull the saw thru the wood to cut it, this means your drive wheel has to be pulling the blade thru the cut not pushing it, make sense? If there are questions please post them.

Hey, How does a chunk of steel know if it is being pushed or pulled? Like I'll push on the rear of my machine and the cage goes all the way around to the front and then the front part pulls the blade??? Push Pull. Like an airplane, does air pressure under the wing keep it up, or does Vacuum on top of the wing pull up the Airplane? ... Oh, I am going to build a Band saw mill, with car tires, using a 50 foot house trailer frame to run down on with anger iron well maybe angel iron or angle iron you know. A Couch in Missouri

Steel doesnt know if its being pushed or pulled but just try to put the drive wheel of a bandsaw behind the cut direction of the teeth and you will see what I mean
